Projects

In a span of just two decades, VME Group has completed 20 landmark projects that have won them laurels across the country. An award by the Indian Association of Bridge Engineers for the Katpadi Rail Over Bridge and a certification of the Ekkatuthangal Bridge as a "State of the Art Bridge" by the World Bank are just some of the honours conferred upon VME, apart from recognition both from the Government as well as prestigious private companies.

Katpadi Rail Over-Bridge for Southern Railways

The renowned Katpadi Rail Over-Bridge(Bow-String Prestressed Concrete Grider Bridge) one of VME's major achievements was completed in record time. A span of 42 meters weighing 720 metric tonnes was cast separately, lifted and positioned in place.

Palar River Project for Southern Railways

This marvel in engineering was completed in 1998 in the short span of just 9 months using a special launching girder. This rail bridge has 36 Prestressed Concrete box girders that are 20m long and its total length is 720 meters
across the Palar River.

Palakkarai Road Over-Bridge,Trichy for Tamil Nadu State Highways

Built in a high traffic area, this bridge has a total length of one km. It involved a 10 span of 54 meters continuous beams of RCC structure, simply supported spans, Prestressed Concrete Box girder and RE wall for approaches.

Moorad River Project, Kerala for Southern Railways

The Moorad River project was built across the backwaters with six spans of 20 meters Prestressed Concrete box girders. It was the first bridge in Southern Railways to use the caisson method of construction for well foundation. As riverbed was sloping and the currents were high, well foundation was used instead of Pile. But even wells could not be constructed by island formation method because of an outcrop and hence sacrificial steel caissons were adopted. The weight of each well handled was 300MT in water with high water current.

Ekkatuthangal Bridge, Chennai for Tamil Nadu State Highways

The Ekkatuthangal Bridge was completed in record time and maintained the highest standards, hence earning it a certification from the World Bank as a State-of-the-art-Bridge. The Ekkatuthangal Bridge supports a six-lane traffic of 21m width. To build this bridge, 84 Prestressed Concrete girders were cast and launched in six months.
